For our carers, Live-In Care is much more than a job
Our Live-In Carers are all self-employed and come from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds. All Candlelight carers have a few things in common: They are kind, experienced, and always put your care needs first.
Before starting with us, they go through a rigorous registration procedure and we expect them to comply with all the current legislation and regulations, plus we require proof of their right to work in the UK.
Most of our carers have higher qualifications in Health and Social care or are working towards these with our support. Our enhanced criminal record checks are conducted through the Disclosure and Barring Service and all references are validated.
Candlelight24 acts as an agency to introduce professional, self-employed Live-In Carers to clients, who move into the home to provide the help and support required.
What would you need to provide for your Live-In Carer?
We like to keep things as simple as possible, for both you and your Live-In Carer. Whilst living with you, your carer needs a bedroom furnished as a minimum with a bed, bedding, a wardrobe and, if possible, a television. You should provide all of their meals, though they will assist in the cooking if this is part of your care requirements.
As your Live-In Carer is self-employed, you are not responsible for their income tax or National Insurance. Read more on Organising your Live-In Care here.
You are responsible for:
- Providing them with a safe working environment
- Paying your carer at the end of each week
- Paying Candlelight24’s management fees promptly
- Ensuring any equipment or aids are properly installed, maintained and serviced.
