26/08/2011 - Dedication and Commitment

Tabby Hickman and Sarah Stobart.

We are very proud to announce that two of our care coordinators from the Glastonbury Area Office are finalists in the Somerset Care Focus Awards. This is due to the dedication and commitment they give to all our clients and their colleagues.

Sarah Stobart and Tabby Hickman are among finalists for the Somerset Care Focus Awards.  These awards are given each year to recognise and honour outstanding service in the care industry.

Tabby is one of three finalists in the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ category and Sarah is a finalist for the ‘Tim Catley-Day Award’ which is a special award given to the most inspirational individual. This award is presented in memory of Candlelight’s former managing director who died in March 2004.

Sarah and Tabby will be among 36 finalists in 12 categories who will attend the presentation gala dinner at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton on October 7 when the winners will be announced.

Their manager, Tracy Weare, said that both girls had made an outstanding contribution to the company.

She went on to say "Sarah has a huge knowledge of the care sector which is invaluable to our clients and staff.  She has a lovely manner and a kind nature and continues to look after people in her spare time as well".

She has now adopted several “grandmothers” and when working as a live-in carer she built up a special bond with a young man with cerebral palsy. She continues to keep in touch with him and recently supported him through a very distressing family crisis.  Sarah has also helped to raise money for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Colleagues also have nothing but praise for Tabby and one of the care workers, Jane Jenkins said “Tabby is very kind and helpful, always ready to listen and give support when needed. She cares as much about the clients as we do and she goes to great lengths to make sure that all their requirements are taken care of. Nothing is ever too much trouble”.

Our managing director Liz Kirkham Candlelight, congratulated Sarah and Tabby for being among the finalists, praising their dedication, hard work and professionalism.

She said: “They are both great ambassadors for the company and the work they do to coordinate operations behind the scenes is vital to our clients and our company.”

"Everyone at Candlelight wishes them all the best at the final in October."

An Afternoon To Remember

Some of our clients, singing along to songs from the 50's.

A big thank you to Wells Evening Society who provided a wonderful afternoon for some of our clients in the Glastonbury area, by treating them to a trip down memory lane and a delicious home-made tea.
