Children and Families
As with all Candlelight services our Children and Families Service is flexible and can be adapted to fit any situation.
For instance if you need help after having an accident or illness we can do things like getting the children ready for school, shopping, preparing their meals etc. In other words, doing the things you would do if you were fit and well.
We can also provide Personal Care for a child who is disabled or recovering from surgery, or a Respite Service so that the parents can take a break.
Children are entitled to care in their own right regardless of their parents income.
Candlelight is approved by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide services for Children & Families across Dorset, East Sussex, Somerset, Wiltshire and B&NES.
Ensuring Your Child’s Protection
All Candlelight staff who work in this area receive specialist Child Protection Training and have an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check.
They will also be checked against the new Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS), launched on 12 October 2009. Run by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) working alongside the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) it's aim is to prevent unsuitable people from working or volunteering with children and young people.
Candlelight has a Safeguarding Children Policy in place which is available to any prospective client who wishes to view it.
The purpose of our Safeguarding Children policy is to:-
- Protect children from being exploited and/or abused
- Respond sensitively and consistently to reported incidents of neglect and abuse
- Make sure action is taken as quickly as possible
- In conjunction with the Local Authority where appropriate, put in plans to protect and assist the child in the best way for them
- Support care staff that may themselves be vulnerable
