Candlelight Care in Wimborne has been presented with the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award, five months after becoming the 190th organisation in the South West to adopt the Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation, ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Businesses, from sole-trader to multinational, public bodies or charities who wish to support the Armed Forces community can sign the Covenant and publicly declare their commitments.
Candlelight Care has pledged to support service personnel and their families through flexible working, and to support at least one Forces charity this year. The latter pledge will be fulfilled on 15th July, when the base holds a charity quiz in aid of the Royal British Legion at the British Legion Club in Wimborne.
Wessex RFCA Regional Employer Engagement Director, Rachael Brannagan, said “It’s fantastic that Candlelight Care has not only signed the Armed Forces Covenant, but is working hard to fulfil the pledges they made. We are delighted to be able to present Candlelight Care with a Bronze Employer Recognition Scheme Award to recognise the support they are giving.”
Kim Black, Registered Manager at Candlelight Care in Wimborne, said, “We are really proud to have achieved our Bronze Award, and will work towards achieving our Silver Award in 2018. We would like to invite local people to help us support the Royal British Legion by attending our quiz on 15th July.”
